Well I got up very very early sunday morning to go help a team who are participating in the Mont 24 hour race and take some images of course

#1 and #2 are pretty neat!

#1 - I'd be tempted to crop the left of image #1 so you don't see the coates hire demountable and the red barricade stuff. Cool sky though.

I would have thought they'd make good comp entries for "Movement"

As do I... but as comp organiser (whith the keys to teh server and assocated files) I cant run it and enter it as much as a nice shiny new d70s would be liked!

dumb question...how come the bikes dont show up in the pic. would have thought your would see a blur of it with long exposure.

it was a 30s exposure... they go past pretty fast, so the sum of the time that a bike might be in a pixel might be 1s so they would be 1/30th of the intensity of say the bushes that were getting some of the (very very weak) morning light...

ie invisable

I like #1 and #2, although #1 is slightly overexposed, leading to a couple of hotspots.
#2 is terrific, particularly in the context of the other shots which give the viewer an idea of what is happening.

I think #3 suffers because of the viewpoint - perhaps taking the pic from the side of the hill (if possible), rather than the top, may have given a better perspective.

I agree there re #3..

While the 70-200 was great for some shots... I would have liked a wider fast zoom for this (the kit really was not up to the pace of the action)

That said... I liked being a distance away from the action at that point cause the mud was flying and I was happy none of it was near my glass

Very cool light trails on the 2nd one
the bendy track fit's snuggly in the frame and the tree trunks break up the inherant monotany of the light trails, well conceived.

I would have to say #1 and #2 also. The sky really adds to number one and probably would make a great event photo enlarged.

#2, who doesn't like the "long exposures -streams of light"

Thats why I shot it in the morning rather than night as the light was much nicer then...
