Mt Panorama Races. Dial Up warning (I mean it!)

These are a few of the first 700 pics ( :shock: ) I've taken over the last day and a half at the Supercheap 1000 race.

Today I was lucky enough to borrow a media pass from a mate, which gave me access to some great areas of the track. Including I might mention, the press room, full of free food and drink.

The shutter speed used varied from about 1/160 - 1/400 depending on where I was on the track. The cars are doing about 200 kmph where I used the faster shutter speeds.

I've got another two days trackside, so fingers crossed I get some better shots.

Anyone got any hints, tips, criticism or comments? I'd love to hear them.

Hey Raskill,

Great shots. it's not easy to capture the cars so sharply when they're going so fast.

The only think I might suggest is maybe to crop the images so that the cars fill frame. The empty grass areas seem to detract from the cars themselves.

great shots. :)
I'm going to have to see if I can score a media pass when I eventually get a lens decent enough to bother trying this. :)

You Dirty Raskill!!! :lol: Congrats on getting a media pass, mate! :D Certainly has it's perks. Great motion captures of the cars. Nice and sharp and you look like you've judged you shutter speed well. The only thing I'd look out for is slightly blown highlights which if done can be taken care of in Photoshop curves. Other than that, I bloody envy you! :lol: Well done, mate. Look forward to seeing some more action! :D

I particularly like the Torana and Lotus shots. There's millions of v8 supercar shots but not the other cars. The Torana shot's cool with the left-front in the air. Similarly the drift on the Lotus.

Good shots Raskill. :D
I like #1, the Lowndes car before he kissed the wall, then got flattened by a runaway tyre;
and #7, the Ambrose Pirtek Falcon (before he got smacked by Murphy & shunted into a cement wall).
Looks like you had heaps of fun :D
