Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Overall I like the clean look of the images, now to the nitty gritty :)

1st pic - Love the sharpness of the chocolate balls, but the coffee cup being cut out is distracting. Is it possible to make it more OOF?

2nd pic - The best one out of the lot. Oysters are sharp and background is nice and out of OOF to compliment the image.

3rd pic - Don't like how it's only showing part of the food. If you want to show part of it, zoom in to show more of the crumpet. Like the background except look out for stains and marks on the table and coffee cup.

4th pic - At first I didn't quite like how you composed it, but on 2nd and 3rd looks it's framed beautifully :D

5th pic - The left spring roll being cut out at the top doesn't sit properly for the photo.

Also I know you're trying your best to protect your images, but splashing your initials and the year over the image is very distracting when asking for critiques. Is it possible to fade it out a bit :)

Keep up the great work redline. Going from cars to food is a pretty big leap :)

WOW! Makes me hungry looking at those photos. :D
I've always wanted to take photos of food. I wonder how best to capture the steam/heat that comes off a freshly cooked meal. :o

I love the white clean look too...is this all maxwell & williams dinnerware? I have heaps of it, and if this is how it comes out in photos, I'll have to try it.

Is that a crumpet? Jolly good old boy, but cappucino? Make mine macchiato or espresso please, followed by a pot of Madura tea.

Great shots here, should be in some sort of travel brochure somewhere, maybe offer them to the Sheraton or Intercontinental!

Thanks Piro, i appreciate you feedback.
the last couple of shots were rushes as i got too hungy and ate the displays!

flipfrog,
with the setup i don't have any images of thr setup iam afraid, but i can tell you that i used:
2 pieces of tracing paper as sotfboxes = 4$
two 500w halo lights = 60$
2 secondhand light stands from fee market = 10$
2 foamcore reflectors = nothing, leftover packaging from the new fridge
lots of masking tape = 2$
a white table = its the dinner table
the most costly items were the food and the dishes/bowls.

Wacky,
defintly maxwell & williams dinnerware, except for the square plate. iam too poor to use any of this stuff to eat from.
they were on sale in most homeware stores 30-75% off during the end of fin. year sales.
i got the platitum cups/saucer for 10$ for 6, bargin!

thanks ozimax,
i might ask if the hilton are interested in some, depends though. the new menu have already being released.
