Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Hi Wayne, I used the smart highlighter in he extract section of PS, yeah the edges are a bit soft in the photo, didn't shoot small enough Aperture.

Glen, I was very tempted, I stopped myself. It was a hard thing to do :D

Effective, like the softish edges, black is such a good all round background/frame/edge colour, or is it a colour?

Nice job Mic - does not need to be sharp at the edges as it gives a softer blend to the black. Not sure about it being centred :!:

An experiment for you. Select the background (with the magic wand) - invert (and I don’t mean negative) - copy and paste - then resize the flower on the new layer formed - just for fun

Thanks Max, The Black really brings things out.

Chris, I'll try your experiment next week, when I have a few spare minutes up my sleeve.

Thanks,

Mic.

mic

i like it, but my only critique is to crop in on the subject mor since it isTHE one and only focal point, and saturate the flower just a tad...

just my 2 cents

great shot tho

Geoff, Thanks. I used to think the same thing, but once you do a few times it is very simple just a bit of trial & error.

You go into Extract, I smart highlighted these, hit the bucket thingy and then o.k

You hit the move tool and it moves, just open up a new doc to whatever size you want and fill with whatever colour you want.

Just drag over and centre, I just use my eye, but there is probably something that you can do that I don't know how.

Someone will.

Have a go, it's fun.
