Aireys Inlet on the rocksHi, does this partial desat. work as an easy to view image? The orig. file has got to be THE most uninspiring image, very dull day, poor light etc. I had few exposures on this day so I tried to make something of nothing. Was I flogging a dead horse?

Geez Phil,
Thanks for the idea. I get through a small project like this one and my mind is devoid of nothing but relief for finishing. I get your crop straight up. The three rock elements work even better than the whole lot. Less is more! Thanks, my learning curves keeps on rising! ![]() ![]() Shoot early - Shoot often
I like the original Matty.... just rotate about 1degree CW to get the horizon to line up...
nice shot... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.

I think the desat is heading in the right direction, but I'm with Xerebus I like the original better than the crop. For me the only problem with the original is the large rock I think you've lightened the shadow too much. Image PP by committee - shows how subjective this stuff is eh! Peter

You're right Stubsy, it is very subjective.
My reasoning was, when I look at the original, what attracts my eye is the splash of water. So why not make it more prominant and have the three rocks framing it. __________

I left out a sharpen routine in the cropped version- such was my haste to re-post. Despite being subjectivly assessed by 'The Panel', I'm now confused as to which form of the pic I like!
![]() ![]() ![]() With frames and mountings etc to be altered endlessly, I guess there are many ways to go with such an image. Xerubus, I have a slightly compresed disk in my spine hence tilted horizon!! ![]() ![]() ![]() But seriously, It just goes to prove where I have concentrated my efforts and also just when you think you are finished........... Stubbsy, I have always tended to be heavy handed with the shad/high effect. I'm coming to grips with this by using spot meter to better effect and to blend two different exposures together. Thanks everyone for your comments. Shoot early - Shoot often
